M5tec wins a Technical Consultancy framework with the European Spallation Source.
M5tec wins a Mechanical Engineering and Design framework with the European Spallation Source (ESS) which will see them supply consultancy services directly into ESS.
M5tec tendered for the work as a lead supplier via the ESS supplier portal which led to them winning 1 of 14 Mechanical Engineering and Design frameworks. M5tec were supported in their bid by Davis and Musgrove who will support the framework as a tier 2 supplier.

ESS is one of the largest science and technology infrastructure projects being built today. The facility design and construction include the most powerful linear proton accelerator ever built, a five-tonne, helium-cooled tungsten target wheel, 15 state-of-the-art neutron instruments, a suite of laboratories, and a supercomputing data management and software development centre. In the context of its history and future as a scientific organisation, however, it is more than the sum of its parts. It is a brand-new international Big Science organisation, built from the ground up in Lund, Sweden. (European Spallation Source | ESS)
M5tec are a multidisciplined provider of Design Engineering, Technical Services and Turnkey Solutions. We have an excellent track record of providing our services to high assurance industries such as Nuclear Decommissioning, Fusion Energy, Subsea remote operations, and Renewables. We have a knowledgeable background in remote handling in hazardous environments and an innovative approach to design engineering which has led to us receiving a Northeast Business Award for Services.
M5tec’s managing director, Craig Chalder said “This framework award comes off the back of winning similar frameworks for UKAEA, UKRI and Dounreay Site Restoration Limited and will help us push towards our goal of becoming one of the UK’s number one providers of engineering solutions to high assurance industries. We have recently delivered some world class solutions to very complex and technically challenging projects, and we can’t wait to start providing our services to ESS”.
M5tec will be supported by Davis & Musgrove Ltd who are a tier 2 supplier on the framework. Davis & Musgrove develops novel technologies for fusion energy, holds expertise in advanced nuclear energy, and support the defence industry. They also provide technical and regulatory-based consultancy. They are expanding at a fast pace in the energy and defence sectors.
